My name is Trev, and I’m a Salsaholic!
Hi…. My name is Trevor, and I’m a Salsaholic!
You have no idea how good it feels to get that off my chest!
Although you probably knew that… given that I run a salsa based web site!
My story with salsa began in 2007. I decided that I had to make some changes in my life. I needed to meet more people, get out more, do something that I enjoyed… I had no idea what that would be!
Then one of my Facebook contacts suggested that maybe I should try salsa! I have to admit, I was sceptical. I had always loved dancing, albeit normally jumping up and down to tunes on the dance floor as a socially acceptable alternative to actually having to speak to someone in the various clubs that I frequented in my student days, but salsa seemed so remote from anything in my life at the time.
But I noticed that there was a class at my local community college for a series of salsa classes, so I signed myself up for the next terms class, starting in January 2008. It helped that this class was in Guiseley, where I was living at the time.
Of course I wasn’t great straight away… but I picked things up quickly, and within a few weeks I realised that I was going to have to find more classes nearby. I fired up the famous search engine and had a look around to see what I could find.
The first page that popped up was the salsaholics web page (now sadly defunct) run by Nicky Loyd Graham, who at the time was running a class in Leeds on a Wednesday. It was quite out of my comfort zone to head into Leeds on my own, on a week night, and take these salsa classes (how I’ve changed eh?), but I summoned all of the courage that I could muster and headed into town!
The rest, as they say, is history…

Love the site and found it very useful but are there really lots of classes in the middle of the night (1am?) or is it a misprint?.
