Beginners Salsa Course in Leeds Starting in January 2014!

Whether you have been inspired by Strictly Come Dancing, want to meet more people, lose weight, or just get out more, I can get you started on the path to fun and enjoyment on the dance floor!

With a small class of complete beginners I will take you from dancing zero, step by step, to a hero on the dance floor (no sequins required)! Learn and practice salsa in the privacy of a dance studio, so when you get to the dancefloor you’re the real deal!

The 8 part syllabus will build, week on week, slowly but surely building your dancing skills. Included in the course is:-

    How to listen to salsa music.

    The rhythm of salsa.

    Leading and following techniques.

    Body movement and how to use it.

    A brief run-down of other latino dance forms, rueda, bachata and kizomba.

    Enough moves to make moving fun!

    A fully inclusive guide to the salsa scene in Leeds.

 Lots of fun is guaranteed, no partner necessary, no previous experience required.

The beginners salsa course will take place in The Dance Studio Leeds. This purpose built space is perfect for dancing, with lovely wooden floors and wall to wall mirrors. (Also free wi-fi,  hot drinks and refreshments!)

Your teacher will be me, Trevor Howland. I have been dancing salsa for 6 years now. I have danced on 5 continents, and learned a lot about what it takes to be a good dancer in that time. I have performed at congresses, and for the last year or so I have been helping out in various beginners classes around Leeds. I also run the Leeds Salsa and Latin Dance Group on Facebook, the Salsa 4 Dancers Leeds page on facebook, and the Salsa4DancersLeeds web site (including the Leeds Salsa Calendar).

    The classes are for 8 weeks, every Saturday from 25th January to the 18th March 2014, from 2:15 to 3:15 pm!
